It belongs to the Murōji-branch of Shingon Buddhism and its honzon is a statue of Miroku Bosatsu. The temple is located at the western entry to Muro-ji and is known for its rock-carved image of Miroku Bosatsu carved into a natural face on the bank of the Uda River, which was designated a National Historic Site in 1934.
