The French 1st Infantry Division (French: 1^re Division d'Infanterie, 1^re DI) was a division of the French army which fought in a number of major battles in the First World War. Reorganized as the 1st Motorized Infantry Division (1^re Division d'Infanterie Motorisée, 1^re DIM) during the interwar period, it fought in the Second World War and was largely destroyed during the Battle of France before being reconstituted in 1944.
