2025 Belgrade stampede
On 15 March 2025, in Belgrade, Serbia, during the largest of the anti-corruption protests triggered by the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse, a stampede occurred, followed by allegations that the government caused it by attacking the demonstrators with a "sound cannon" during a silent vigil for the victims of the disaster. There were no fatalities, nor was there any evidence that a "sound cannon" had been used.
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) was invited to Serbia and arrived to investigate the "sound cannon" allegations. The Serbian government also invited the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to assist in investigating.
Prompted by Serbian NGOs, the European Court of Human Rights sought a response from the Serbian government regarding the allegations.
