A special election to determine the member of the Pennsylvania Senate for its 36th district was held on March 25, 2025. The election filled a vacancy caused by the resignation of Republican senator Ryan Aument on December 31, 2024. Prior to the special election, Republicans held a 27–22 advantage in the chamber. Democrat James Andrew Malone flipped the seat in what was considered a major upset, as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump won the 36th district by 15 points in 2024.
