Afro tech (also Afro-tech or AfroTech) is a sub-genre of house music. Dating back to as early as 1999 in Brooklyn, NY Jaymz Nylon is widely recognized as the "Godfather of Afro Tech", a subgenre of house music that blends deep house, afro house, and other electronic elements with a strong emphasis on rhythm and ancestral sounds. Now afro house is predominantly made in South Africa. It emerged in the 2010s. South African DJs and music producers who popularized the genre include Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Bekzin Terris, Euphonik ( DJ Themba), Punk Mbedzi, DJ Tira, Zakes Bantwini, Shimza and Da Capo.
