Ardea (Ancient Greek: Ἀρδέα) is an ancient town and comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, 35 kilometres (22 miles) south of Rome and about 4 kilometres (2 miles) from today's Mediterranean coast.
The economy is mostly based on agriculture, although, starting from the 1970s, industry has played an increasingly important role.
