Biomass is an Earth observing satellite of the European Space Agency (ESA). The mission will provide the first comprehensive measurements of global forest biomass and is expected to significantly improve the understanding of carbon storage, forest health, and temporal changes of forest ecosystems. It is meant to last for five years, monitoring at least eight growth cycles in the world’s forests.
