Barèges (French pronunciation: [baʁɛʒ]; Occitan: Varètja, [barˈεd͡ʒo], Barètja in the Gascon dialect) is a commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, administrative region of Occitania, southwestern France. It is situated in the valley of the Bastan on the former Route nationale 618 (the "Route of the Pyrenees") on the western side of the Col du Tourmalet.
