Ben Issa Ousseni
Ben Issa Ousseni is a French politician born on July 11, 1973, in Mamoudzou, Mayotte. He currently serves as the President of the Departmental Council of Mayotte, a position he has held since July 1, 2021.
Ousseni's political career includes:
- Elected as departmental councillor for M'Tsangamouji in 2011
- Re-elected in 2015 and 2021 for the canton of Tsingoni
- Served as 7th vice-president in charge of finance, development, and tourism from 2015 to 2021
- Elected as the 7th president of the Departmental Assembly on July 1, 2021
Ousseni has a background in finance and accounting, holding a DUT in finance/accounting (1995-1997). His professional experience includes:
- Working as an accountant at SIM for three years
- Serving as an accountant for CEMEA Picardy from May 2001 to April 2005
- Creating his own business in 2011
As President of the Departmental Council, Ousseni has been actively working on regional cooperation and development initiatives. He has expressed interest in establishing air and sea links between Mayotte and Mozambique to improve connectivity and trade in the region.
Politically, Ousseni was a member of the Union for a Popular Movement until 2015 and has since been affiliated with Les Républicains (LR).
