The Central Investigation Department (Chinese: 中央调查部; pinyin: Zhōngyāng Diàochá Bù) was the intelligence and counter-intelligence agency of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1949 to 1983.
In 1983, the Investigation Department and other relevant agencies were merged to form the Ministry of State Security (MSS) as its successor.
