Christian Mitchell is an American politician and university official. He represented the 26th district in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019, and served as Deputy Governor in J.B. Pritzker's administration from 2019 to 2023. He also served as the executive director of the Democratic Party of Illinois during the 2018 election cycle, becoming the first African-American to hold the position. Since 2023, he has been the Vice President for Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago.
Mitchell began his career as a community organizer, working with churches on the south side of Chicago, and as a campaign staffer and advisor to several politicians at the city, county, and state levels.
