Dalit history

Dalit history encompasses the socio-political, economic, and cultural experiences of communities historically regarded as "untouchables" or oppressed castes in the Indian subcontinent. The term Dalit, meaning "broken" or "oppressed" in Sanskrit, was popularized in the 20th century by social reformers like Jyotirao Phule and B. R. Ambedkar to challenge caste-based discrimination and reclaim dignity.
