Enrico De Nicola, OMRI (Italian: [enˈriːko de niˈkɔːla] ⓘ; 9 November 1877 – 1 October 1959) was an Italian jurist, journalist, politician, statesman, and provisional head of state of republican Italy from 1946 to 1948. Afterwards, he became the first president of Italy on 1 January 1948.
