Fonds d'Investissements pour le Developpement Economique et Social
The Investment Fund for Economic and Social Development (French: Fonds d'Investissements pour le Developpement Économique et Social, or FIDES) was a development finance institution active in the French colonial empire, notably in Africa. It was established in 1946, as France recalled its earlier policy that colonies should be fully self-sufficient. It existed until 1959 when a decree replaced it with the Fonds d'aide et de coopération (FAC).
