Gabriel Lippmann (/ˈlɪpmən/ LIP-muhn; 16 August 1845 – 12 July 1921) was a French physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1908 "for his method of reproducing colours photographically based on the phenomenon of interference".
