The term hyphy (/ˈhaɪfiː/ HY-fee) is an Oakland, California, slang meaning "hyperactive". More specifically, it is an adjective describing the hip-hop music and the culture associated with the Oakland area. The term was first coined by rapper Keak da Sneak.
