The Islamic Emirate of Yemen (Arabic: إِمَارَةُ ٱلْيَمَنُ ٱلْإِسْلَامِيَّةْ) was a short-lived unrecognised Islamic state established by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula after the 2015 Battle of Mukalla, as part of their goal to establish an Islamic emirate in Hadhramaut. Mukalla was the headquarters of AQAP, and the capital of the Islamic Emirate of Yemen.
