James Tengatenga

James Tengatenga was an Anglican bishop in Malawi: he was Bishop of Southern Malawi from 1998 to 2013. In the Councils of the Church, he was a member of the Anglican Consultative Council from 2002 and was its chair from 2009 to 2016. He also served as president of the Anglican Family Network. He has served as chair of the Anglican Council in Malawi twice and chair of the Malawi Council of Churches. He has also served as a member of the Inter-Anglican Commission for Ecumenical Relations. Tengatenga has been on the board of the Foundation of St. Georges College, Jerusalem, and Zomba Theological College. He has been vice chair of the Malawi National Examination Board. He was also a founding member of the Malawi National AIDS Commission.

After his time as bishop, Tengatenga was offered the post of Dean of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation at Dartmouth College. but the appointment was rescinded.

Tengatenga currently serves as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Global Anglicanism as the School of Theology at The University of the South - Sewanee.
