James Wadsworth Symington (/ˈsaɪmɪŋtən/ SY-ming-tən; born September 28, 1927) is an American lawyer and politician from Missouri who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives for four terms from 1969 to 1977. Prior to that, in the late 1960s, he served as Chief of Protocol of the United States from 1966 to 1968 under President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
