Johann August Ernesti

Johann August Ernesti (/ɛərˈnɛsti/; German: [ɛʁˈnɛsti]; 4 August 1707 – 11 September 1781) was a German Rationalist Lutheran theologian and philologist. Ernesti was the first who formally separated the hermeneutics of the Old Testament from those of the New.
