General Sir John Doran, KCB (2 October 1824 – 25 September 1903) was a British Army officer from an established Irish family with links to Irish nobility. He saw extensive service in India and the North West Frontier. He had originally taken a commission in one of the East India Company Regiments (the 24th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry) in 1842.
In 1893, whilst serving as a lieutenant general in India, Doran was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath. He was promoted full general on 1 April 1894.
