Syeda Maimanat Mohsin (born 1959), commonly known as Jugnu Mohsin, is a Pakistani politician and journalist. She is closely related to influential feudal and aristocratic business families of the Punjab. Her lineage from the male line is from Tarkhans, as its well known and documented that Hazrat Daud Kirmani their claimed ancestor only had daughters. The female descendants married Tarkhan Mujavir who began claiming Kirmani lineage. This falsified claimed lineage links her to other Tarkhans such as Pro British agents whose ancestors worked for the Sikh empire Syed Maratib Ali, Syed Babar Ali, Lahore's Fakir family of Fakir Khana, Jhang's Syed Fakhar Imam and Syeda Abida Hussain; and Okara's influential Sadaats—the Kirmani clan. She was an independent member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab until 31 March 2022 and then joined PML(N) on 1 April 2022. Her term ended on 14 January 2023.
Previously, she has served as an editor of The Friday Times and Good Times. She previously hosted an eponymous weekly talkshow Jugnu.
Mohsin studied law at University of Cambridge, where she met and married journalist Najam Sethi in 1983.
Jugnu Mohsin, had to navigate significant family opposition to marry Najam Sethi, an activist with leaning towards left and a maverick, if not a rebel, in socio-political milieu of that era. Najam Sethi's background as a socialist and non-feudal, likely clashed with her family's traditional values and expectations. It's impressive that Jugnu was able to convince her family to accept Najam, and their marriage has been a long-lasting and influential one in Pakistani society. In 1999, her husband, Friday Times editor-in-chief Najam Sethi, was arrested by the Nawaz Sharif government for his work as a journalist and held for a month without charge, causing Mohsin to launch an international campaign for his release. That year, she and Sethi were awarded the International Press Freedom Award of the Committee to Protect Journalists.
She won the 2018 Elections from PP 184 Constituency of Okara District by obtaining 62,506 votes.
