The 1932 dismissal of Premier Jack Lang by New South Wales Governor Philip Game was the first real constitutional crisis in Australia. Lang remains the only Australian premier to be removed from office by his governor, using the reserve powers of the Crown. Had Lang not been dismissed, it is strongly suspected that the proto-fascist New Guard planned to depose him in a coup.
