Most people in Somaliland speak at least two out of three widespread languages: the official language Somali, the second language Arabic, and the international language English. Article 6 of the Constitution of 2001 designates the official languages of Somaliland to be Somali and Arabic, though English is actively spoken and taught in schools. Somalilanders often speak a mix of two languages — Arabic and Somali.
