List of U.S. states and territories by income

This has lists of U.S. states, territories, and Washington, D.C. by income. Data is from various sources, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the yearly American Community Survey (ACS). Data is less frequent for American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Average or mean full-time wage in the United States was $80,115 in 2023. The median income is the income amount that divides a population into two groups, half having an income above that amount, and half having an income below that amount. The average is higher than the median because there are a small number of individuals with very high earnings, and a large number of individuals with relatively low earnings.

Some of the table data is for full-time workers. Some is for households, which FRED defines as: "A group of people living in the same home, regardless of their relationship to one another." Investopedia defines families as "those related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live under the same roof."

Per capita income (according to Investopedia) "counts every individual adult and child, even newborn babies, as a member of the population."
