It incorporates the hamlets of Booths Hill, Broomedge, Church Green, Deansgreen, Heatley, Heatley Heath, Little Heatley, Oughtrington, Reddish, Rushgreen and Statham. At the 2021 United Kingdom census, the parish had a population of 12,660 and the built up area had a population of 11,545. The village borders Greater Manchester to the east, 1 mile from Salford to the north.
