Makaryevsky District (Russian: Мака́рьевский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kostroma Oblast, Russia. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 4,850 square kilometers (1,870 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Makaryev. Population: 10,424 (2021 Census); 15,968 (2010 Census); 19,523 (2002 Census); 24,900 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Makaryev accounts for 53.0% of the district's total population.
