Mayiladuthurai District is one of the youngest districts of Tamil Nadu, having been carved out from Nagapattinam District in 2020. Tamil Nadu has 38 districts in total, and Mayiladuthurai is among them, located in the southern part of India, as part of the Tamil Nadu government's efforts to improve administrative efficiency and promote regional development. The district is named after its headquarters, the historic town of Mayiladuthurai, renowned for its cultural, religious, and historical significance. The district is in the fertile Cauvery Delta region, known for its lush agricultural lands, ancient temples, and vibrant traditions.
