Melanie Ann Levesque (/ləˈveɪk/ lə-VAYK; born May 20, 1957) is an American politician from the state of New Hampshire. A Democrat, Levesque represented the 12th district in the New Hampshire Senate from 2018 until 2020; she was the first African American to serve in that body. Levesque was chair of the Senate Election Law & Municipal Affairs committee, and served on the Judiciary and Transportation committees. Levesque previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2006 to 2010 and 2012 to 2014. In 2021, Levesque was a senior advisor for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. In 2022, Levesque announced her run for the New Hampshire Secretary of State.
