Melekessky District (Russian: Мелеке́сский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,472.3 square kilometers (1,340.7 sq mi). Its administrative center is the city of Dimitrovgrad (which is not administratively a part of the district). Population: 36,718 (2010 Census); 40,272 (2002 Census); 42,023 (1989 Soviet census).
