Mohsen Mahdawi (Arabic: محسن المهداوي) is a Palestinian activist and student at Columbia University's School of General Studies. Mahdawi was among a number of student activists targeted by the Trump administration for deportation. After ten years as a permanent resident of the United States, he arrived for an interview to obtain U.S. citizenship at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in Colchester, Vermont on April 14, 2025, when he was arrested and detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. He was subsequently granted release under habeas corpus, pending adjudication of the merits of the case in support of his deportation.
