Muraqabah

Murāqabah (Arabic: مراقبة, lit.: "to observe") is an Islamic methodology of achieving a transcendent union with God. It is a tradition commonly found in ṭarīqas (Sufi orders). It is said to have been the practice of Muhammad during his stay in the Cave of Hira before he met Jibreel.
