Pablo Hernández de Cos (born 20 January 1971) is a Spanish economist and monetary policymaker. He served as the 70th governor of the Bank of Spain from 2018 to 2024. He also served as chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and as chair of the Advisory Technical Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board.
Hernández de Cos became a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in August 2024, and at Bruegel in September 2024. He is also a professor at IESE Business School. In November 2024, the Bank for International Settlements announced that Hernández de Cos would become its next Managing Director, effective 1 July 2025.
