Palu (Armenian: Բալու; Zazaki: Palî; Kurdish: Palo) is a town of Elazığ Province of Turkey. It is the seat of Palu District. The current mayor is Efrayim Ünalan (AKP). Its population is 9,602 (2021). Inhabited since ancient times, Palu was the capital of the classical Armenian region of Balabitene and then, much later, of the Kurdish Emirate of Palu. In the early 20th century, Palu was relocated from its old location to the current site.
