Pleione (mythology)

Pleione (Ancient Greek: Πληιόνη or Πλειόνη) was an Oceanid nymph in Greek mythology and mother of the Pleiades. Pleione presided over the multiplication of the flocks, fitting, since the meaning of her name is: "to increase in number" (from πλεῖων "more").
