The posterior atlantooccipital membrane (posterior atlantooccipital ligament) is a broad but thin membrane: 99 extending between the posterior margin of the foramen magnum above, and posterior arch of atlas (first cervical vertebra) below. It forms the floor of the suboccipital triangle.
