Prakash Man Singh Raut (Nepali: प्रकाशमानसिंह राउत) (born 31 March 1961) is the current Chief Justice of Nepal. He was appointed as the chief justice by Ram Chandra Poudel, President of Nepal. Raut was appointed as the Chief Justice following the retirement of his predecessor, Chief Justice Bishawambhar Prasad Shrestha, on October 4.
Justice Raut was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice of Nepal on August 1, 2016, by the President.He graduated in law from Nepal Law Campus, Tribhuvan University. He is said to be expert senior advocate especially in civil, criminal, constitutional cases and writs. From 1983 to 2016, he worked as a senior advocate in the Supreme Court of Nepal. Justice Raut also worked as a legal advisor for many public and private organizations. He coordinated the Constitutional Committee in the Nepal Bar Association and was elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 2006.
