Prophecy in The Lord of the Rings

Prophecy is a recurring element in the narrative of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien echoes both biblical and Shakespearean prophecy in his epic novel. Close to prophecy are prophetic dreams and visions, and the use of divination through devices such as the Palantír and the Mirror of Galadriel.
