Quilicura (/kɪliˈkʊərə/ KIL-i-KOOR-ə; Spanish pronunciation: [kiliˈkuɾa]) is a commune of Chile located in capital Santiago. Founded in 1901, it was originally a satellite town on what were then the outskirts of the city of Santiago. In recent times, ongoing urban sprawl has quickly urbanized the area, transforming it from what was once prime agricultural land into an integrated part of the Santiago metropolitan area.
