Rail transport in Bulgaria includes passenger and freight operations over its 4,070 km (2,530 mi) network of mostly 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in) standard gauge railways. It is an important mode of transport in Bulgaria. Its infrastructure is owned by the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC), and services are operated, among others, by the Bulgarian State Railways (BDŽ).
