Rebecca Kassay is an American politician. She has served in the New York State Assembly representing the 4th District since 2025. A Democrat, she represents part of Suffolk County.
In the 2024 New York State Assembly election, she unseated Republican Ed Flood.
She was Deputy Mayor of Port Jefferson, New York. She was elected a Village trustee in Port Jefferson in 2020.
Rebecca Kassay was born in Stony Brook, New York. She was raised in St. James, New York and moved to Port Jefferson in 2014. Kassay earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, New Paltz in 2010.
Rebecca Kassay married Andrew Thomas on August 17, 2013. Her career experience includes working in public service, co-owning a bed and breakfast, The Fox and Owl Inn, in Port Jefferson, NY since June 2014 and in programmatic activities. 2
As of 2024, Kassay was affiliated with the Rotary Club of Port Jefferson, Montessori Model United Nations, and the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.[1]
