Christianity is the predominant religion in Bolivia, with Catholicism being its largest denomination. Before the arrival of Spanish missionaries, the people residing in the territory of modern day Bolivia practiced a variety of faiths.

Bolivia is a secular nation and its constitution guarantees freedom of religion. In the decades following the Second Vatican Council (1962–65), the Catholic Church has tried to play a more active role in the country's social life.
