Shamil Anvyarovich Tarpishchev or Tarpischev (Russian: Шамиль Анвярович Тарпищев, IPA: [ʂɐˈmʲilʲ ɐnˈvʲarəvʲɪtɕ tɐrˈpʲiɕːɪf], Tatar: Шамил Әнвәр улы Тарпищев, romanized: Şamil Änvär ulı Tarpişev; born 7 March 1948) is a Russian tennis coach and former player, sports politician.
From the early 1990s, he was one of the closest figures to Russian President Boris Yeltsin. Since 1992, he has been the head of the National Sports Foundation. In 1994-1996, he was chairman of the State Committee for Sport of Russia. In 1994, he became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
