Sovetsky District (Russian: Сове́тский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the krai. The area of the district is 1,545 square kilometers (597 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Sovetskoye. Population: 16,467 (2010 Census); 18,060 (2002 Census); 17,381 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Sovetskoye accounts for 31.8% of the district's total population.
