Steven John Baumgartner (born March 26, 1951) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers. He played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints from 1973 to 1977 and the Houston Oilers from 1977 to 1979. In 1975, the Orlando Sentinel noted that Baumgartner had an unusual hobby as a beer-can collector. Baumgartner stated that he had 1,200 beer cans lining the walls of a spare room at his house.
