Kingdom of Thailand first participated at the Paralympic Games in 1984, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Paralympic Games since then. However, Thailand has never participated in the Winter Paralympic Games.

The Paralympic Committee of Thailand (PCT) was created and recognized in 1985.

Thailand won its first medal at the 1988 Games in Seoul, when javelin throwers Sakul Kumtan took home a silver in the men's javelin throw A3A9 event. Thailand's first gold medal would also come in athletics at the 2000 Games in Sydney, when Supachai Koysub won the men's 200 m T54 event. Since then, Thai athletes have won gold medals at every subsequent Summer Paralympics, with all its gold medals to date having come in athletics, boccia, wheelchair fencing, table tennis, and swimming.

As of 2024, Thai athletes have won a total of 117 medals; 54 in para-athletics, 14 in both boccia and para-table tennis, 11 in wheelchair fencing, 8 in para-swimming, 6 in powerlifting, 5 in para-badminton, 2 in both para-archery and para-taekwondo, and 1 in wheelchair tennis. Among countries in Southeast Asia, Thailand ranks first in terms of both the number of gold medals (30) and the number of overall medals (117).
