The Outrun is a 2024 English-language drama film starring Saoirse Ronan as a woman who returns home to the Orkney Islands in Scotland. The film is directed by Nora Fingscheidt based on the 2016 memoir The Outrun by Amy Liptrot. Fingscheidt wrote the screenplay with Liptrot based on a story they wrote with Daisy Lewis. The film is a co-production between the United Kingdom and Germany, and in addition to starring Ronan, it features Paapa Essiedu, Nabil Elouahabi, Izuka Hoyle, Lauren Lyle, Saskia Reeves, and Stephen Dillane in supporting roles.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on 19 January 2024. It was released by StudioCanal in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2024 and in Germany on 5 December.
