Theopathy

Theopathie (Greek θεός, God, and πάθος, feeling, emotion, suffering) in David Hartley's philosophy means a stage in the spiritual and ethical development of man. It is characterised by the fact that man gives up his self-will and identifies with God. For Hartley, the stage of oneness with God follows sympathy, the awareness of oneness with the other.
