Valiant is a 2005 animated comedy film produced by Vanguard Animation, Ealing Studios, UK Film Council, Odyssey Entertainment, and Take Film Partnerships. Gary Chapman made his directorial debut, with Vanguard's John H. Williams serving as producer. The ensemble voice cast includes Ewan McGregor, Ricky Gervais, Tim Curry, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie, John Cleese, John Hurt, Pip Torrens, Rik Mayall, Olivia Williams. Set in May 1944, the film follows of a group of war pigeons during World War II. It was inspired by true stories of hundreds of pigeons that helped the soldiers in the war.
Valiant was released by Entertainment Film Distributors in the United Kingdom on 25 March 2005, and by Walt Disney Pictures in the United States on 19 August. It received mixed reviews from critics, but earned $61.7 million globally on a $35 million budget.
