WERN (88.7 FM) is a non-commercial public radio station in Madison, Wisconsin. It is part of Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR), and is the flagship of WPR's News Network along with AM sister station WHA. The studios are on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Vilas Communication Hall, 821 University Avenue in Madison.
WERN is a Class B FM station, with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 20,500 watts. The transmitter and antenna are located at the Madison Community Tower, located adjacent to South Pleasant View Road on Madison's southwest side in the Junction Ridge neighborhood. The tower is shared with WHA-TV, both of the WPR Music translators serving the Madison area, WIBA-FM, and many other broadcast and land mobile radio services. WERN broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD-2 digital subchannel carries the WPR Music network and feeds FM translators W213CE at 90.5 MHz and W300BM at 107.9.
